Director’s Statement:

This film was not created in a vacuum; it was created in a world where we are constantly exposed to romanticized images of love and relationships in our art, films and music. With this film, we wanted to explore how we would experience such stimuli when we are forced to view such images from a distance, where we are able to see how they look in the context of the real world.

Everything that you see in this video is as we intended the audience to see it. A music video was produced representing the romantic ideal of things. It is at once beautiful and emotionally powerful. This same music video was then played from a television and re-recorded, warts and all. The resulting work is both a document that can attest to the existence of said music video and an exploration of the contrast between the romantic ideal of the imagery and an objective look at what we experience when said imagery is taken away.

We haven’t been posting many Music Videos these days, but currently, 3 mins of unlit Canon 7d shakiness has its affects on my attention span. Creative Control owns it, others just rent.

But, its good to see storylines and tripods being used. Oddly enough, the last music video we’d posted was ‘Paris Jones feat. April Kelly, “Winter” ‘ – Directed by Clement and Co – go figure.

I admire society when it creates it’s own paradoxes. But, I can hear it already, “quit hatin on them men’s money”…..

“[He] who we call the father of hip-hop, Kool Herc, is not doing well,” DJ Premier revealed on his Sirius XM radio show this weekend. “Since he’s very sick and has no insurance … [he] needs to pay his bills so he can get out of hospital.”
“We spoke today, and he needs some help to pay his bills for the hospital because he can’t hold it down,” Premier said. “And being that he is the man who set this whole culture off, ya’ll should be wanting to do it any type of way that you can.” Friends have provided an address for donations to the DJ, and while Kool Herc was released from hospital on Sunday, according to DJ Tony Touch, he is “still in dire need of financial aid.”
