New Film: CornerStore

09.02.10 Posted in Video by Chiggady

Based in the 6 Mile area of Detroit, this film depicts a young man who is caught between following in his fathers footsteps and becoming a famous chef. Check out the trailer below and if you can, support…

Sadly, shortly before receiving this, I was reading an article about how young black males in Detroit aged 15-24 account for only 7% of the population, but 25% of the homicides. Hopefully this film can be seen and shared with those same young men. There ARE alternatives to violence.

Check out the article here

She Walked Calmly Disappearing Into the Darkness

Malik Hasaan Sayeed: Director, DP, Cinematographer and everything in between. Here is a short film that illustrates his knack for storytelling, visual creativity and talent that made him deserving of working with Hype Williams, Spike Lee and Stanley Kubrick. If you don’t think you’re familiar with his work, think Belly, Malcolm X, Clockers and Lauryn Hill’s “Ex-Factor” video.

There ya go. That wasn’t so hard, was it? Alright, now watch this…

The Grain Terminal

08.27.10 Posted in Video by Snobie

Carlito Brigante, a street art enthusiast, traveled to New York’s Port Authority Grain Terminal, an intriguing structure that stands behind Red Hook Park’s soccer and baseball fields. The building was fascinating in its architecture and position allowing full visibility of The Statue of Liberty. Check out the interior of this concrete giant lined with graffiti, heavy machinery and spectacular design. It brings to mind the empty buildings of grandeur in Detroit.

Cee-Lo: F**k You! (video)

Soul Machine is a bit bitter with this vindictive track. Pretty simple yet eye-catching video production. It kind of reminds you of those Schoolhouse Rock cartoons…but for adults. Check it.
